...yea, I just realized that there is a key in the fuse box lid, the CEL frustration is messin' with my thinking cap. I swapped the horn relay(same), with the pump relay, the horn still works, sh** not the answer, that leaves the passenger side check valve, which is a tough nut. Any other ideas? I checked the drivers side check valve and the pump is working too, I can't afford to take this in and spend BIG bucks getting the intake pulled to verify the other check valve...any other possibilities on this??
I never thought my FUN car would be such a pain in the a**.
I would try to get it off without pulling the intake. It's possible to get to the bolt that holds the bracket to the driver's head using a ratcheting wrench. I sent the pic below to another member here the other day and he did it. Worst case. it doesn't take long to get the intake off. I definitely wouldn't take it to the dealer just for that if you're even moderately motivated to diy.
...Thanx for the input, I need a torque wrench for the intake removal, anybody know the setting for intake reinstallation? I will try the bolt removal based on your diagram first, and if its bad I'll swap out the other ck valve and then go buy a new one for the drivers side. Is the passenger side ck valve a common problem, the drivers side was working perfectly, blows one way.
BTW will the ck valve cause a rough idle, or is this a carbon build-up problem?
A P0410 code is very common on the 2000 and 99% of the time it is caused by a vacuum leak. The 2000-04 has a vacuum operated vacuum control valve (much like an old heater control valve) located by the air pump down stream of the air pump.In other words, even though the air pump operates on start-up,insufficient air passes through this control valve to the exhaust manifolds if it isnt getting vacuum. The control valve is commanded on (open) by a vacuum solenoid and related vacuum lines that route under the battery.Being that you have a pre AGM battery 2000,check to make sure you dont have acid damage under the tray deteriating the vacuum lines.A telltale sign would be inop cruise control or A/C that does not blow out the correct vents. All these systems get their vacuum source from the port on the back of the intake.
The PO410 code is only caused by insufficient air to BOTH sides of the exhaust manifolds.A P0416 code, etc, will set if insufficient air is only detected on ONE side of the manifolds, such as a restricted check valve.
