Default Borla Stinger vs Z06 Ti

A forum member local to me wants to trade his Borla Stinger (modified with Flowmasters but the Borla mufflers are available) for my stock Ti system.

Just wondering from a performance stand point and Weight what is the comparision. I assume they are very close in the performance but what about the weight?

Don't have money for the big mods right now but this should make the car sound a little meaner. His car is crazy with the LG's and ORP.

I think the borla weighs slightly more but the sound alone is worth it. Why did he put flows on it? Flows on an LS1 sound like ***.

Maybe he's a proctologist.

He thought the flows would quiet it done a bit but it didn't. He says the sound is almost the same. I never liked Flows from the F-bodies the mufflers they made didn't flow well.

But I can have the Borlas put back on for a $100 bucks or so....

Don't do the trade for a chopped up system. Post in the parts for sale section. You'll find someone who will trade with you.

I've had the Stingers on my head/cam/header setup and they were pretty damn loud and had some serious resonance. They did sound awesome though. But I just couldn't tolerate the resonance and I could never start the car before 9AM because it was so loud. I did sound level measurements witha buddy and it was over 110 dB at startup. I finally had to swap in a set if Ti's to quiet it down. Then I added a set of electric cutouts so I could make it loud when I wanted it loud. Plus, there is a lot less resonance with the cutouts.

I think the Stingers are an excellent system for bolt-on applications because they aren't as loud as on highly modded setup. Just be aware that lots of folks have experienced a certain amount of resonance with them and others haven't.
