One more casualty from the LS6 manifold swap (I swear I cant win with this thing). I broke this while removing the old manifold without even realizing it, we only noticed when putting everything back together. I thought I was screwed but the car starts, idles, and drives fine. I put my finger over either end of the broken pipe and I dont feel a thing, even when revving it.
1. What the heck is this thing and what does it do?
2. Do I need a replacement or can I glue the two ends shut?
3. Am I hurting anything by running the car with it disconnected?
I am Not Patches, but it's your EVAP Purge solenoid.
Evaporative Emissions vent valve, which helps to control emission. You could try to glue it, but if that doesnt work you need to replace it. It is like a re-breather, in this condidtion when the valve opens your sucking unfiltered air into the engine.
I hope this helps.
Sorry for Not being Patches, I am the cute one, he is the smart one.

That purges the vapors from your fuel tank and your car will run fine now but will start throwing codes. just go down to the local dealership and ask for an EVAP purge solenoid.
