TECH II question

The Tech-2 method of de-activating the TPM system only works on 2001 and newer cars.
On 97-00 cars, all C5's came with the TPM system, so it was a permanently programmed function of the BCM.
In 2001, the Z06 would not come equipped with sensors, so instead of equipping the Z's with a different BCM, it was easier for them to just make the TPM system a selectable option (which came factory deactivated on the Z's).
The obvious benefit to this is that Z owners can install sensors and simply turn the system on....and also C5 owners who don't want sensors, can turn it off.
Bottom line is I think you're SOL about the warnings unless you install sensors.

For anyone with a 2001/later car, the instructions for enabling/disabling the TPM system with a Tech-2 can be found here:

I would have mentioned it before, but it took me a while to find this old thread.
Sensor nuts are tightened to 106 in.lbs.
I saw no way to replace any sensor batteries. They are one piece so they must be a throw away items.
While trying to solve this problem, I saw bands that hold the sensors in place on non sensor wheels. Use standard valve stems. One forum member used these bands plus epoxy to hold them in place. Sorry don't remember who that vender was but it's one of the big C5 venders and listed under wheel accessories.
I then installed my new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 18"/265X40 front and 18"/315X30 rear because I was total disgusted with the tire shop who couldn't install my sensors and ruined an aluminum sensor nut by trying to wrench it on. All you need is liquid detergent and a nice smooth flat tire iron. I removed my own sensors the same way. I have a bead breaker and just break the out side bead and push the tire down with the bead breaker and you'll have room to remove the sensor.
