Can anyone tell me how to stop the outside of the driver side window from getting scratched when I put up and down. I think this is a simple problem to fix but I haven't seen anyone address it yet.
same here, the only thing that i thought of was maybe something got caught in the door between the rubber and the glass.
Will be interested if that was not the case.
It is the sand and dirts that gets trapped between the window and the stripping, you need to run a rag between the two from time to time to stop the sand and dirt build up.
Of all of the problems I've shared on this forum - column lock, leaky differential, crummy stock headlights, rocking seats, bad H2O pump, etc.
I thought I finally had a unique problem on my '98 Coupe. I have a vertical scratch in the drivers window from rolling up and down.
Now, I see that I cant claim an exclusive defect... I'm kinda bummed...
One of the posters replied with detailed pictures and instructions on how to adjust the window ... the best I've seen. One of the adjustments can deal with scratching the window, if the door/window mechanism is what's causing the scratching.

Thanks Gerry, I thought I had posted those at some point. You are exactly correct, one of the adjustments can eliminate (or cause, don't ask me how I know ) the scratching. The place it will scratch is about 1/3 of the way in from the back of the window. If the scratches are in a different place than that, then the window strip might have some grit in it.
My scratches are on the outside of the drivers window about 6-7 inches from the front of the door. They are deep so I don't think dirt could have done this. Once the door is fixed I will have to replace the window thats how deep these are.
