I recently read in Corvette Fever an article on adding cold air to increase power. One of the things the mention is that with a product such as a Donaldson Blackwing filter system, when the engine compartment heat increases,hp decreases. They strongly suggest openingup the air inlet underneath the front bumper.Where is this exactly and how do you open it up.Thanks guys for the help

I have a heat extracting hood and open fog surrounds. Cold air is forced in through these openings but if pressure builds up in the engine bay with no place for the air to escape you have in effect an air lock. Sure some air will still get in but you need to have enough exit area to equal the amount of intake. The cold air gets sucked in through the front and exits through the Hood vent sucking all the hot air off the TOP of the engine bay ( heat rises ). It also cause a scavenging effect, like a vacuum cleaner sucking air from the whole engine bay.
I cut out the area around my fog lights with a dremel, I then epoxied some screen behind this opening and painted them satin black to match the surround panel that remained.. here is a picture if you can see the screen.
