I purchased an OEM cd changer and am told by local dealership that I have to purchase a complete new stereo wiring harness in order to install this. Does anyone know anything different? It would seem that I should be able to just run a specific control cable of sorts. Is there a plug hidden somewhere from a "standard" harness that is installed with the proper plug on the end for "future" use??

I think their words are somewhat exagurated.
If your C5 did not come from the factory with the CD changer already installed, then you are missing a harness that runs from the passenger footwelll to the rear cargo compartment (where you will be mounting the CD changer). It is a changer specific harness - I wouldn't of called it "complete new stereo wiring harness" though.
here is a link to a forum vendor that sells the harness:
Thanks Tim, I may have to put you on my payroll or paying you a commision. I am using your car ramps, your frost king insulation idea, and now the info for my wiring cable. I almost started to pull out some of the frost king stuff lookig for a harness, thinking I may have buried it by accident. Thanks a lot.!!!!
Here are a few digitals of the electrical connections that you will need to hook that new CD Changer wiring harness to. The large connector will have the smaller connector taped to it with white tape. It will be tough to see but it's there. I added a Changer to my ZO6.
