anyone using GM Synchromesh??
I am very sorry you feel this way about my posting. I did not intend to be purposely contradictory with you for the benefit of selling some AMSOIL. The vast majority of my posts are meant to share the knowledge and experience I have gained on the track with others. I am normally very careful about what I recommend and try to comment very specifically when my recommendations could cause warranty concerns. Do I slip in a reference to AMSOIL when I can? Sure. I feel it is a good product, the ones I recommend do meet warranty requirements (unless otherwise noted), it is American made, and the few bucks I make from it help offset (in a very small way) the enormous expenses of my racing team.
In this case, I honestly feel that it should be mentioned to those reading this thread that the GM Synchromesh does not meet the requirements leavied by GM for the Corvette transmission, especially since the original poster specifically addressed that concern. If they chose to use the GM Synchromesh knowing that it doesn't meet DEXRON III requirements, fine. At least they made an informed decision.
Since you obviously think my opinion is overly biased, I asked Chevy technical assistance about this lubricant yesterday and here is their official response. Take it for what it is worth.
"The type of transmission fluid that should be used in your 2002 Corvette is Dexron III. It is highly recommended not to use the GM Synchromesh fluid. It anything was to happen it is highly possible that your warranty could be voided.

As to why your dealer would use this, you'll have to ask them. My personal opinion is that your dealer is not GM or Chevrolet, it is an independent owned business.
P.S. AMSOIL does buy its PAO base stock for its synthetic lubricants, but it blends in the additives at their plant in Wisconsin. AMSOIL filters are made by the same manufacturer as Hastings, and in fact AMSOIL does carry and sell Hastings filters, but the AMSOIL SDF filters are not merely rebadged Hastings filters. The AMSOIL SDF filters are made to AMSOIL's specific technical specifications using a special Cellulose, Synthetic and Glass Blend Media vice a paper element.
P.P.S. For the original poster, sorry for the hijack. I hope you got your questions about the GM Synchromesh answered.
