I am considering installing a H/C package in my C5.
Currently I have the following mods:
3.42's
SY3500
Transgo
Borlas
Kooks LT
Vortex Intake
I am considering the following two cams:
224/224 .581/.581 112
or
228/232 .588/.575 113
Can anyone with an A4 running either cam chime in and tell me how the car runs? Pros/Cons
Thanks
Who's heads will you be running? If I were you I would talk to who ever has done your heads and find out which cam performs best with their heads.
Another thing to consider, since you have an A4 you also have to consider the stall & the gearing that you are running. A big cam might produce more peak HP, but might not perform as well as some smaller cams. Because the stall is a bit too low for the bigger cam to perform at it's best. In general big cams run great with lots of stall.

I am considering purchasing a set of ForceFed High Performance LS6 sytle heads. With a SY3500 stall converter and 3.42's do you know what the ideal cam would be? This is my daily driver during the summer so I dont want to go to big on a cam, but am looking for 400 rwhp.

This will be your daily driver? Since you will be looking for a transmission soon, have you had time to narrow your choices? FLP, Rossler, Crashed 94?
I would always recommend a split duration cam especially if you think you will ever dabble with a blower, turbo, or Nitrous. If you have to pass a smog siffer in your state then you need to stay with an LSA of 114 or higher, and don't go over 224/224. I have a 224/228 581/588 114+2 sitting on my bench right this moment that I will probably install in my M6. This is a great cam and with good tuning will sqeek by the sniffer test. Here is CA it's about as agressive as I can go and still hope to pass.

ForceFed High Performance, sounds like they do FI applications. I would definately get in touch with them, and talk to them about your setup and which cam to run. A set of heads that works well with FI applications might not be the best heads for NA applications.
A moderate cam with a duration of 224-228 and a lift of 560-580 or so would be fine with your setup since this is your daily driver. Go with a 114 LSA since you have an A4.

See my sig. I'm very close to your setup and very happy with the combo and find it's great for a daily driver. But the heads you put on will make a difference; I think you should consider heads and cam a "package" and make sure you pick a set up that works well together. As far as choosing between the two you mention I wouldn't go much bigger than 224 for a daily driver. But hey, it's your money so if you want to go bigger - Go bigger.
I have a 224/.581/114 and it is very streetable. See sig for complete mods. Idles @ 750rpm with some lope and no stalling!
Be sure to get a good tuner - it will make all the difference!
Thank everyone for the advice. What does the +2 mean in 114+2 LSA?
224/228 581/588 114+2
+2 means 2 degrees of advance is ground into that particular cam. The advantage in doing this is you will reach peak power at slightly lower RPM in the power band.
