I think I'm gonna go outta my mind. Had to get a new hood and the dealership is a bunch of ******* a$$es. Any tips for aligning my hood on my car? It looks like it's centered but the passenger side gap between the hood and the fender is like twice that of the other side. The fender is adjusted in as far as it will go. Is this a bad hood or what?, it sucks bad.
Hood alignment is a complex set of compromises. Have you tried to realign the hinges to frame relationship? Also, make sure the hood latches and release mechanism is properly alligned. If not, they will shove the hood out of position when closed. The hood catch ('U' shaped) must fall directly over the latch slot. I like to do all the hood adjustments with the 'U' catches removed. Then install and adjust them last. This will insure that they are not causing the miss-alignment. Good luck.

After an assisination attempt on my Vette by an F350, I ended up with slightly bent frame and all sorts of pieces parts out of alignment. Long story short, the frame went back into tolerances on the first pull and the damage to the body was only to the paint. The problem I ended up with was that the head light covers would scrap against the hood when raised. Everything else looked correct and the lights were maxed. I loosened almost everything and moved things around until I had good clearences all around. It was fairly easy, I had it done in a couple of hours. Are my lines perfect? No. However, they are close enough so that you have to look for differences.
