Default VIN decal

Decal removal and replacement help please.
The wind snached my drivers door from my hand blew it wide open and cracked the fiberglass about two inches behind the top hinge,
to repair, my body shop (dealer) tells me the door must be replaced, which removes the tire info decal and the VIN decal, which they say are not available as replacements.
Can anyone tell me how to remove and preserve these decals for reinstallation on the new door?
I really don't want to loose these decals.

Help!

Any and all help will be appreciated
Norm

take a heat gun and heat the decals up from the inside of the door(back side of decal) when you can lift it from the corner and it pulls off easy take it and immediately apply it to the new door.

I've heard that one.. someone else mentioned before that they cut the area out and take the decal and copy it and laminated it and it looked factory. Just an Idea.
