Default Lowering ?s

I would like to lower but not slam it. How low can I go before I need an alignment? How much of the bolt shows in relation to how far the car gets lowered? I would like to drop her about an inch at least. Any difference in the ride positives and Negatives

There is no way to answer that question. It depends where the alignment is set before lowering.
I can tell you this; any lowering will change camber, toe and probably caster.
If you want to drive the car without having the alignment checked, then have at it. I would not!
Notice I said have the alignment checked. If needed then have it aligned. You will never know until you get the car on the rack.
Money well spent.
