Default Lowering with stock springs

Did I hear wrong, or is there a way to lower my C5 with just a simple tightening of bolts? without new springs?

Very easy about 1.0 hours if you can get your car up. The back ones you can get to without removing the tires, but the front ones I had to remove the tire.

You will need a jack and jack stands (2 jacks work better) because you will need to take the load off the wheels to adjust the bolts.

here is a link with some pics so you get the idea.

How much of a drop can I expect by doing this?

Well unfortuantely it really depends on your car. I have heard from nothing (only once) to over 1 inch. Mine has continued to drop even though I did the lowering in the summer. Here is a pic of mine about 2 days after the lowering. It dropped more after 2 weeks and then it has continue to drop very slowly until now. I should do a new measure, but I think I got over 1 inch.

It really gets rid of the GAP in the wheel wells and improves handling somewhat. You should get a new alignment after a month or so because you will be changing the dynamics of the car.

looks good!

I'll be doing this this winter...

The stock C5s really have a big tire/fender gap don't they?

cheers!

Yes they do. It was one of my first MODS. At first I thought nothing changed, but after a few days I felt like the ground was much closer to me when I got in and out of the car. I also noticed that it scraped more coming in and out of the driveway (no big deal to me, but you can cut the black plastic thing down if it bothers you).

The final test was being next to another car and then it was easy to see...

Great Free MOD...

Well there is a chance that you will not, but do you want to gamble with $1200 worth of tires or spend $100 for the alignment?

usually it is a simple answer

yea, they suggest you drive it a while to settle everything in, and then get the alignment checked.

Of course lowered means you have to be careful when driving.
I now back into spots that have curbs or parking blocks.
Any incline or dip going into drive ways or parking lots - now I slow WAY down and take it at an angle.

And for extra protection on those inclines and for speedbumps and such,
I went to A&A and bought the Rocker Rails and Frame Savers.
109$ Pkg deal - last month
