You may also want to consider the ARP studs. That is what I installed and they make the job easier and are less risk if you are installing yourself due to the chance of cross-threading.
I recently purchased a set of used Kooks headers. Does anyone know where I can purchase a set of header bolts?
thanks
I used Breslin locking header bolts because I didn't want to worry about loose or falling out bolts. Highly recommended. The part number for the LS1/6 is 608-026 (Stainless 12 pt). I paid $74 to the door from Jegs.
When I purchased my kook's from the vette doctors last year they told me to reuse the stock manifold bolts.
I did and no problems yet, besides I think they are a low grade of stainless anyway.

i used my stock ones. cleaned them. a dab of antiseize and torque carefully to spec.
The last time I re-used header bolts, one snapped off from heat stress when I re-torqued it on the install. Never again will I re-use exhaust header bolts.

I called Kooks on this subject, they referred me to Dave at Cartek.

We both agreed that the seal should be checked on a regular basis. However, we could not agree which state had more potholes. He voted for New Jersey and myself, Kalifornia. Go figure.
However, I do find above threaded bolts to be really cool, but probably would work on a race car better. The reason I say this, is because, I rather have my headers come loose after bottoming out badly, than them pulling directly on heads. Leverage, steel(headers) vs. aluminum heads sitting on gasket. Which do you think will win?
