I installed the Z06 rear brake duct kit from West Coast Corvette yesterday on my '02 'vert. (Yes, it was VERY difficult to cut into my lower rockers - mentally that is!!) The install went great, I was done in about 4 hours. No real problems until I put on my aftermarket 19" x 11" Z06 rear wheels with 295/30/19 tires and they rub on the ducts that force the air on the rotors!!!!! They only touch in a small area, but this needs to be corrected. Has anyone been in this situation and come up with a good solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Any chance you can heat the duct and maybe dimple the area of concern? My ducts rub with my Et Streets while launching but it does not bother me enough to warrant any corrective action. Bob
I installed the z06 ducts and thought I had a rubbing problem with just the stock z06 wheels but it was just because the car was jacked up and the wheels natually fall toward the ducts and hit them. Try lowering the car and you may get that extra clearence you need. When lowered you should have the clearence needed. Goodluck!
After I did one side I put the tires on because it looked tight and then lowered the car. You're right, it did gain a little clearance, but they still rub. Thanks for the input.

He is a supporting vendor it was in my cell that got destroyed CCW is Complete Custom Wheel. post in RR section and they will have it if you don't get it here. Just get washers and put them on three studs to see what you actually need then measure it with the car settled.
My rear duct rubbed the right tire. I secured the duct to the Aluminum gas tank shield. First I drilled a 1/2" hole on the outboard side of the duct. Then a 1/8" hole on the inboard side thru the 1/2" hole and carefully thru the Aluminum sheild. Then feed the 1/8" SS bolt thru the hole from the tank sheild and into the duct. Use washer on the duct for strength. Once you secure the duct you can buy plastic trim caps 1/2" at AutoZone to close up the outboard hole. You can't even tell what I've done but the net result is the duct is pulled away from the wheel. $3 in parts.
Sorry but I don't have pics for you.
The side of the duct rubs, not the end of the duct.
Mine rubbed the tire where the side wall and tread meet. It sounds similar to yours. I found a photo from before the rubbing started. The rub was roughly where the remants of the sticker are.
That's EXACTLY it!!! I'm going to give 7/16" wheel spacers a try. I just put 7/16" worth of washers on 3 of the lugs and lowered the car - it cleared. If the spacers don't work, I'll do the pulling in of the ducts also. Thanks for the help IM QUIKR.

Glad I could help. One more comment here, the spacers may not give you clearance once the car is moving. The better route IMO is to pull the duct away from the wheel rather than the wheel from the duct. You may negatively effect performance with the spacers whereas the flexible duct may still make contact. Need I mention the cost.
Good luck whatever you choose.
PS. use SS locking nuts (the ones with plastic at the top) so it never comes loose. I'm sure these ducts get bounced around a lot.
