My passenger side power window is not working. When I hit the switch I get a clicking sound. I removed the door panel and the speaker and can see the back of the window motor. I have seen some suggest you can tap on it a few times and it works. Well that does not seem to help me out much.
Any suggestions on removing the motor? Do I need to remove the plastic water shield with all the black tar stuff? Anything else I should try before I try to pull the motor out to replace?
I've fixed mine 3-4 times by tapping on the motor with a fairly heavy tool ( vice grips, channel locks ) while holding the down button down. It's worked fine for about the last year. I've also fixed a friends this way . Good luck.
There was a TSB on bad modulars on my 01 that the dealer took care of. Check on it if you have an extended warranty of some sorts, both sides were replaced
I will try this again, maybe I am not hitting it hard enough.
Hmm, between hitting it harder or the cold weather this morning the window is now working. I just hope that it don't stop as soon as I put the panel back on. Does anyone have an explanation of why this works? Does it just get jammed?
The passengers side window does not get cycled as much as the drivers. This seems to be a commom problem. Recommend raising and lowering it once or twice a week if possible. that might help. I recommend lubricating the metal piviot parts with some light machine oil and cycling it a few times while you have the door a part.
