Ported Oil pumps simply have the passages (inlet & outlet) radiused with a die grinder to smooth the casting ridges in the stock units. I have seen the guys at MTI do it to my car, and it is fairly simple and quick. However, the stock pumps have some obvious ridges that obstruct the flow. Most shops will bump the bypass spring pressure at the same time for a little higher oil pressure.

The book How to Build High-Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s-Modifying and Tuning GenIII Engines for GM Cars & Pickups shows how to shim the oil pump.
I'll give you the same advice for porting the oil pump as I would if you were porting the heads: only smooth flash and obvious obstructions, DO NOT hog it out.
