Apparently this cold has been adversely affecting the risers on the trunk of my 'vert. When I pop the trunk, I hear it release, but sometimes it just stays stuck shut, and I have to somehow force my fingers into the crack to get it open. Is this something with an easy fix, or is it something more involved?

I know this seems simple- but have you tried popping the trunk, then slamming the door with the windows up?
had the same problem saturday when i was removing the seat for foam replacement--tried to pop the hatch to install the roof(rem'd to get the seat out)and same thing--climbed inside under the hatch and pushed up when hitting the button, problem solved--currently 12 degrees in ct
The hydraulic struts are designed to hold the trunk open more than to open it. iI you live in a place that is below freezing like in CT (05 deg this morning!! ) The struts have even less ability to assist the trunk to open. If there is any moisture on the gasket it could be causing the gasket to stick to the lid.
Use some silicone spray on the lid and gasket, lubricate the latch mechanism with some light oil and see if that helps.
I always pop the trumk and shut the driverd door. The air pressure inside the car always pops the trunk up.

I believe there is a GM TSB just out to fix this common "trunk won't open" problem. The latch mechanism is slightly out of alignment. The fix requires some drilling to oversize the holes in the latch hold down bracket to permit it sliding into proper position.
As mentioned above, the best trick is to pop the trunk then shut the door.
But, some other things that may help is to lubricant the latch and screw up the rubber bump stops in the rear corners of the trunk a little as they may exert some upward pressure on the trunk to help pop it up.
