Default REDUCE ENGINE POWER!! Service TCS

I have a 98 with like 70k on it, never been wrecked or anything, never drive it hard, maybe once or twice in my life span with the car,and this is the second time it has happened. The dealer told me the first time was because i spun the tires, which i did not do, this time i was pulling out of school doing 15mph and it just does it on its own, can anyone help me out, is this common in 98's? fill me in please....thanks for your time

My 98 did this also and I found the solution on this forum. Clean the ground connections behind the two headlights connected to the frame. Fairly easy and solved my problems -

You need to find out what your codes are before you can begin to troubleshoot, heres a link to explain how to retrieve your codes as well as a brief description of what they mean:

Fault Codes

Disregard the "U" codes as they are common to all cars and will not cause "reduced power", concentrate on the PCM fault codes, thats where your problem lies.

Oh yeh, post your codes here and someone will be along shortly to help.

The problem is NOT your driving habbits or anything that you are doing wrong. I had a 98 coupe and took VERY good care of it! I also drove it aggressively, "VERY AGGRESSELY!"
If your service advisor is blaming "spinning the tires" on this issue; you need to find a NEW service center!!!!!

I too had this very same problem! I also had many other GHOST electrical problems. They would come and go and change symptoms at random. This went on for almost 1 year! I frequently got stranded on the side of the road and got to drive on I-95 in the break down lane doing 6 MPH!

Long story short; you most likley have corroded chassis electrical grounds!

I cleaned ALL of my chassis grounds and my 98 has been trouble free for almost 6 months!

Here is a link to a post that I constructed a while back to help people fix this type of problem and save money not replacing "EXPENSIVE" electrical componets.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...al+information

Take a look at your grounds. Concentrate your efforts on the two chassis grounds under the hood G-101 & 102 and the two on the frame behind the rear wheels. G-401 & 402

This is where your problems are going to be resolved.

If you have ANY questions, PLEASE feel free to ask.
