SLP long tubes?

SLP long tubes?
bought 02 Z06 with SLP long tube headers already on car, X pipe, hi flow cats, all 409 SS. I've noticed no one on this forum uses them. Are they inferior to other brands?

Some have said on here that the SLP's are a little hard to install. Also they seem to be optimistic with their performance/results claims. I think several vendors are optimistic though, so nothing new there. It seems like most headers are all pretty close, some are more popular than others. I would pick LG's, Kooks,Stainless Works, QTP ? or a couple others first. On the other hand, if I already had your SLP's I would leave them on and get a tune, you should be happy. This should start a discussion huh ??

As far as headers go. I have had two Sets of SLP headers on other cars. One set on an LT1 and they were Shorties. Actually pretty pleased but switched to long tubes and gained 2 tenths..
Had a set of SLP long tubes on my 02 WS6 with PP LS6 heads and cam. Something about the way the o2 bungs were postioned caused it to pop o2 sensor not heated codes. Never could get it right with those headers.

i have slp headers on my 02.i had to put heat shield around the starter wires because of melting problems.i have msd plug wires and have no problem with them. i have replaced my passenger side 02 sensor in front of the cat twice in 20000 miles because of codes . it still throws insufficient switching code every 3 or 4 days so i just clear it with my predator. the engine runs great anyway and i cut approximately .2 seconds off my 1/4 times w/ slp and hiflo cats.they were a real pita to install ( 14 hrs w/hiflo cats ) and that would be the only reason i would never buy them again .

I dont think they are a bad header for performance gains but they sure do suck to install Where is my buddy Tony
