Default Exhaust sounds during deceleration.. Question

When I bought my car bone stock. I could rev the motor and no sound was noticed when the engine wound down. After an intake mod and a tuning mod, the exhaust burbles and pops after a rev and deceleration. I don't know if pops is the right word, but I think you know what I'm saying. I think its totally normal but what causes this. Rve Rev Rev then blah ba de blah on the wind down. I think its more of a backpressure thing but why did it not do it when stock. No exhaust mods done at all.

Yes, it is common on stock exhausts. Some after-market muffler systems eliminate it without an X-pipe and some still need an X-pipe to smooth out the air flow. Magnaflow does not need an X-pipe unless you want to turn down the volume. Corsa's sound better with the X-pipe and will pop without one.

I still have to with the X-pipe.

Im having a cam installed next week. Lets see if that and a tune help it. I doubt it. The better flowing exhaust, the more popping I think you'll hear.

If you think your going to spend 300 bucks and the popping is going to go away, save your money

The sound on decel is covered up by the stock exhaust. The X-pipe, despite common belief here, does nothing to relieve this, but only balance it out better using both mufflers rather than one side at a time. The only way to eliminate this sound, assuming going back to the stock mufflers are out of the question, is to edit the PCM to advance the spark slightly on deceleration which burns the gas earlier so it doesn't get into the exhaust manifolds. (Or something like that, seems to make sense). This was explained and accomplished during my dyno tune and the sound is all but gone. Sometimes I kinda miss it.
