I had been having problems with my ABS deactivating frequently. Since my car is primarily driven on the track, this was very frustrating, not to mention hard on tires. So I decided to ditch my existing ss lines and replace them with Goodridge and I haven't had a problem since. I'm not sure what's different about the new lines but my tires and I are happy.
the ABS system on our cars relys on the fact that you have a good ground from one end of the SS line to the other... Goodrich makes a quality piece that maintains that ground... some other lines dont.
I've heard about the brake lines providing an electric ground from a previous post, never thought much of it until I replaced my OEM brake hoses with Goodridge SS brake hoses. Out of curiosity, I did an ohms check on my OEM brake lines. It was zero (open circuit). I repeated this with the other three OEM brake hoses and got the same result. From this experiment I must conclude that the brake hoses provide an electrical ground is a bunch of BS.
What happens when you put your ohm meter contact on the metal fitting the brake line bolts to in the wheel well and the other contact on your caliper? Does it swing all the way to the right? or does it stay stationary?
I have Goodrige SS lines with AN fittings from VB&P with no problems now. Originally I had Goodrive lines with banjo bolts from LAPD and the car would throw codes when driven on track. I replaced them b/c I broke two of them doing brake work.
I stand corrected. Open circuit is indeed infinity (I know better than that), I just didn't have my thinking cap on. I have an analog VOM. The reading on the OEM brake hoses was infinity. Ambient temperatures are in the teens right now. I'll wait until it warms up before I do an ohms check on my car. Is it possible that an electrical ground already exists via the upper or lower control arms to the chassis?
