Mine smelled too. Big time! My belt also went, but I heard it squeal from Saturday to Wednesday before the crank pulley went. I'm guessing it's the "burn off" period. Many of the Toyota's that I've had smell similar when new.

Soemone reported a "fish" smell on another forum recently.

Does it smell like rubber, or a fish?

I have noticed a smell every now and then after I pull her into the garage, but I always thought it was tire... Or as another post mentioned, my driveway is on an incline, so I also thought it might be the clutch. When I had my Corsas installed last Tuesday, I had him check her from stem to stern (including the crank pulley bolt), and everything was normal...
