We have started to pre bend the letters so no one has the problem of not bending enough. We have 2 C6's here, with inserts on since August. "0" problems. I think most are to afraid to curve the metal, so we will do it BEFORE they ship. And as always, we proudly stand behind all our products. If anyone is having a problem, email me @ ssinserts@aol.com. Barry
We will have some more exciting products for the C6 coming soon!!!!!!!!!!
These inserts look nice but this always has been a problem with them. Its not just the C6 ones trust me. I found that painting the debossed letters to work best. Even if your letters are sticking now sooner or later they will loosen and fall off. Water tends to get behind them and after time the double sided tape just lets go. The Painting process is VERY EASY to do fool proof and looks and lasts a Long time. The cost of painting it yourself is less than $10 and looks factory. You can always also try using 3M emblem glue in the loose SS pieces if you like.
I have to strongly disagree with the above post. We have had these on our 2000 C5 for 5 years with no failure. Both our C6 have had them on since August, no failure. 99% of the time it comes down to one thing....How you install them. Read the instructions and follow them. I get phone calls with customers saying some letters won't stick. I ask them if they used the primer, did you install with temps above 70. This does not mean when it is 20 degrees outside, stick it in a garage and turn on a space heater for a few hours and then drive it out into the freezing weather, chemical reaction takes 72 hours. 99.9% of the time they say no. Does this mean we have a bad product or bad instruction? No, we have SOME customers who are to excited about putting them on that they hurry and mess it up...period. If you follow the instructions they WILL LAST. Water can't get behind them if installed correctly. We have been doing this for several years and we know what we are talking about.
Is anyone else having issues with the SS Inserts on the rear bumper??
My stainless steel inserts will not stay on the car. Yes, I thoroughly cleaned the surface before installing. Yes, I carefully bent the letters to match the contour of the bumper. The backing material is so thin that the inserts keep popping away from the bumper.
I have written to SS INSERTS for replacement parts and they are sending me replacements. They have been terrific to deal with.
Anybody else having this issue???
I'm waiting until it warms up 70ish or so before I try to put them on
I posted a similar thread about a month ago, so yes, there are others that have the same problem you're having. I did everything EXACTLY as the instructions say, after cautiously prebending the pieces, using the primer, etc. I also didn't put them on in cold weather--not a problem in San Diego, and the car even sat in my nice warm garage for a couple of days after the install before I took it out.
I'm now on my third set, as I' like the look of the letters so much I didn't want to give up. This time I think they're on there for good, probably because I scraped off the 3M adhesive and used "GOOP Household Contact Adhesive and Sealant". Not wanting to make a mess of things, I first experimented by gluing one of the old letters on to a plastic lawn chair. Success!!
I'm not saying everyone should try this, but it worked well for me.
I have had mine on for about a month and have had no problems. I am concerned because I have my vette washed at my place of employment and I am afraid they won't be as careful and I am around the insert. They might pull it off.
yes, I've seen several other posts about adhesive problems, when the product was made from various vendors. I think it's fair to say that there are more than a few guys who've had troubles, whether it was their fault or not.
That's why I've decided not to add this accessory, at least for now. I'll appreciate it as new things come along that make it more idot-proof. Sounds like SSInserts has made some good steps in that direction. And knowing there is excellent customer service after the sale tells me that's the place to buy.
Are the letters from SS Inserts the same as the ones West Coast Corvettes has? I bought mine from a forum vendor, and they came with instructions with WCC on the header. Anyways, it doesn't seem like the letters fit very well into the spaces - I bent them and everything, but not all of them seem to fit exactly, especially the 'V.'

Mine are from a forum vendor thru WCC. Bought them 2 weeks ago and the "V" seems to be lifting. I'll give it another week and then I'll ask for a new set!!!
Well.............warm weather is slow coming soooooooooooo.....I used a hair dryer to heat the surface of the facia.......followed the pred instructions, then stuck the letters on and then used the hair dryer again............they are stuck!!!
