Default Strange starting problem.....

After one month of ownership and over 1,000 miles of driving, today I encountered a very strange problem starting the car.

I got into the car as I usually do, put the clutch down as usual, my fob was in my pocket and the starter button had the green light on. I pushed the button and NOTHING happened. Green light still on, and nothing happened a 2nd try either.

I thought that the green light means starting sequence is 100% ??

I put the car back into reverse, opened the door, got out of the car, and locked it with the fob. I then re-entered the car, went through the normal start up precedure and it cranked right up. Same green light, only this time it worked fine.

Anybody else have this issue yet?

What did your DIC say, if anything? Once, got in the car with cell phone and FOB in same pocket, but I got a no FOB detected message and I can't remember if I got green or not. Hopefully, it was just a little electrical hiccup. Please keep us posted. Good luck.

The DIC had no messages. I've been told that if the car is willing to start, then you'll get the green light. If the car is not ready to start, no green light. So, getting a green light and not starting makes no sense.

Wow, no hasn't happened yet, at 3300 miles. I did get in one time, and didn't get the green light, and when I hit the button, the DIC said no FOB detected. I took it out of my pocket, and the green light came on.... Hasn't happened since...

Welcome to low voltage hell! Next time it happens, and it will in a variety of ways, hold down the starter switch in the Accessory Mode for 5 to 6 seconds. This will reset the low voltage protection scheme. Don't bother taking your baby to the dealers either, they don't have a clue what's wrong and the dealers and Chevy engineers have adopted the USER Error/"blame the victim" stance rather than replacing the battery and uping the alternator

I have seen the following and yes it was placed in to reverse, all ground straps tight, battery takes a charge(loses 5% during the night) for all the helpful waldo suggestions:

Exit memory position does not happen at door opening-no DIC message
No Start-DIC message "Service Column Lock"
No Start-DIC message "Battery voltage 12.2 (Battery read 12.7 volts)
Memory settings for #1 erased X4 times-No DIC Message
Telescopic does not return to memory postion-No DIC
Mirrors (the glass part) reset themselves from a retracted position-NO DIC

Happened twice early on with me, but not in a first start condition. I just popped the FOB in the glovebox slot and all worked fine.

Unfortunately that's what happens with too many electronic gimmicks...hopefully you won't encounter that again...

This happens to me about two times a week since I got the car in early Jan. You do all that you are suppose to do, and the car will not start. I release the button and press again, and 50% of the time it will start. If not I press it again and it will start.

I have no idea why, but it does happen.

Mine has done that several times. My thoughts were that I didn't have the clutch fully depressed when I pressed the button. I know when it happened several days ago that the clutch wasn't completely to the floor. So it may be a function of where in the pedal stroke the switch triggers.

Default Bad start also.

I too had a bad experience the other day with my C6 late model A/T. After around 500 miles and finally breaking it in the night before, I had driven to the mall and parked my car. When I returned to start my car up again, and as I depressed the brake pedal and pushed the starter button, nothing happened, then the engine turned on with a high pitched metal squealing sound as if a cat was being fried on my engine. After driving the vehicle for several miles, I constantly heard a very faint metal rubbing sound. I returned home, parked my car in the driveway, and shut the engine off. I then started the car again and heard what appeared to be metal rubbing on teh concrete. I looked under the car, nothing. I then decided to rev the engine in park and it sounded extremely raspy, not the usual deep throat sound it makes. I took it to the dealer in the morning for a check who had it all day. He told me that they attempted to mimic the sounds and even attached the engine to a computer diagnostics. He said the engine was in "flawless" condition and there was nothing wrong. I didn't believe it and picked the car up. Started the car and revved the engine. Nothing was wrong. It fixed itself. He said it might have been a slight computer flaw that corrected itself. Anybody else ever heard of this? Let me know. Also, as I am a new Corvette owner, should the vehicle, while in park or idle, feel a little vibration like mild kicks. I was told this too was normal.

I've had other electrical issues but never a non-start. Good luck and give an update if you find anything out.

Default No start

On two occasions my C6 failed to start. One of those times the memory settings were erased. Several times I have had trouble getting the door to unlock.

Yeah, I had asked about the crank pulley issue as mentioned in past threads. However, they still checked that and compared it to the recalls sent by GM and reassured me that my car was built after the recall.
