A/C Problem????

Got the call from the dealer today and the word is that the "actuator" is out! Dont know what the hell that is but the dealer told me this is the third one he's replaced on C6's and it will take a week or more to get a new one in. ANyone know what this thing is or does? The dealership knows vettes in and out and found the problem in less than a day!
