Being that it finally got warm enough to drive my car (800 miles on it) and turn on the A/C in Texas...I either have a problem or dont know how to operate the A/C!!!! When put on auto and set to 70 degrees on both sides...and start the car up... I have no fan speed even though it was 82 degrees outside and hot as hell in the car. When I take it off of auto...the A/C and fan run fine and cools the car down. The next time I get in the car and try auto on the A/C...no fan or blower speed again. Am I missing something or do I have an A/C problem? My C5 was just set it and forget it! I'd roast in this one waiting for the auto temp to start coolling it down!
That sound like correct operation, the fan will not come on until the system is cool enough. Try waiting a bit. It won't blow hot air on you. You can override the system, just turn up the fan.
Geez.....thats pretty poor if thats how the system works! I waited 10 minutes for the fan to kick on and start cooling the interior before I took over the manual contols and turned it up! Cant believe I was meant to sit in a really really hot interior waiting for the A/C to be able to blow cool air???

Maybe that's the way it was designed. If it's really hot in your car, take over the controls and speed up the process. If it's just rather warm, let the AUTO feature do it for you without blowing hot air on you.
Most computer programs I wrote for the DOD gave you choices.
Your OK, Just drop the Temp. to 60 degrees in Auto Mode and make sure you have it set ( with LED on ) for recirculation, So it doesn't pull warm air from outside. Give it a try and let us know.

So.. basically turn the low tech *** to full blue and the other low tech *** to fan power 5?

Your A/C is definitely not working properly; it should start cooling the car down immediately in "Auto" mode. Make sure the inside temperature sensor and solar sensor are not blocked. -JR
If your the only one in car ....just turn yours to "blue" The Temp setting will show 60 degrees and press the auto button and the one next to it( that's the recirculation button, the LED should light up.)

No way!!! It’s called automatic temperature control for a reason. If yours works this way it is broken also.
Thanks for all the input, but...Its broke! Took it to San Antonio's largest vette dealer and their A/C man tried to get it to work but couldnt. Teardown starts tomorrow. They told me they got a car in two months ago that the heater wouldnt cut off and got so hot inside it became undriveable. Those of you that told me this was NORMAL operation should perhaps have their A/C's looked at!
Wow...it only gets better....
When driving it to the dealer today for the A/C gremlin fix , I turned on the heat since its cold here in Texas! Well...I set the thermostats both to 80 The drivers side vents were blowing ice cold air and the passenger side vents were blowing hot air...even the two in the center of the dash were conflicitng each other...drivers side cold...passenger side hot. Showed it to the dealer when I drove up and they said..."ACTUATOR problem"...whatever the hell that is??
Those damn gremlins are working overtime!!!!!!!!!!!!
