For all of those who ordered their vettes, how long did it take for you to drive it home from the date you put the order in? Just curious how much variablility there has been.
It really makes a difference how many allocations your dealer has. My order went in on May 2, 2004. As of September 2, 2004, my dealer still hadn't gotten his allocation. I cancelled and bought one off another dealer's lot.
I signed my contract on 2/26; received an order number on 3/7 but, no build date yet. Last week my dealer they had a build slot open but, I could not get it because of the Z51 option on my order. This dealer is honest so, I trust what they told me.
In the meantime, I will be counting the days to that fantastic drive home.
I was also told 8 to 12 weeks but he hinted that he gets them much faster than that sometimes. I guess this dealer is one of the top 10 in allocation spots so maybe it will be fast. I just hope I dont have to wait till May for my new baby!!
Ordered my power top convertible with polished wheels on 12/18/04. Both of these options were burdened by "constraints" in January . In addition, I believe the plant was closed a week or two over the holidays . Car arrived at the dealership around 11 am on 3/6/05 and I picked it up on 3/7 .
In my case, i ordered on July 22, 2004, car was built on Sept 27, 2004 and delivered @NCM on Oct 7, 2004. My dealer had an allocation at the time I placed my order.

Dang talk about some variation here. Do you think that it has gotten better now that it has been going on for a while? Seems like the older the car the longer it took to get it!
After having a deposit sitting around for 14 months, I switched from a coupe to a 'vert (and switched dealers) in August and took delivery in January (5 months).
I ordered a Mag Red convertible with grey top/interior in mid September. I will never see it. If I'm lucky, I may be driving a Monterey Red convertible with grey top/interior by next Oct.
Well, this ain't exactly average . . . I put my deposit down in January 2004.
I put my specs together for the order in March.
I got a GM order # in late May.
On 1st July, I had to change color as Precision Red went away (glad I did now - love Mag Red).
In mid-November, it was becoming clear that a power top vert would not be forthcoming in 2004. I added Z51 to console myself.
At the beginning of January 2005, GM threatened big delays on the power top, so I changed it to manual. More consolation in the form of XM radio and Onstar options followed.
The stars must have aligned, as I finally moved to status 2500 in the third week of January 2005.
By the beginning of February, I had a TPW of 2/7.
The car was built on 2/8 and delivered at the NCM on 2/25.
It had been a long wait . . . .
So, start to finish was 15 months, but things happened pretty quick once GM actually preferenced the order.
