$60/yr XM deal still good
I finally stopped procrastinating & called XM today. On the advice of many fellow forum members, I inquired about the GM $60/year renewal. The guy on the phone asked me for the discount code. I told him I didn't have the letter in front of me. He just needed the XM radio ID # & we were good to go. not sure how much longer this deal will last. They did actually send me a letter, but it was to lock in at the $9.95 monthly rate before it went to $12.95 on 4/2.
I've heard other forum members say that they had to call several times before the person who answered knew what they were talking about. I got lucky the first time. # is 800.443.6454

Good to know, thanks! I called 2 weeks ago and they told me to go jump off a bridge! Not no but hell no! Really!
Next time I will mention "the letter". Some have noted that they recieved phone calls from XM with the $60 promotion. Anybody still getting these calls?

yeah, for me -the guy made it clear, despite my story, that the $60 was meant only for if you had let your XM lapse, as an incentive to get you back. If you say you have XM active now, they won't give you the deal -- beleive it or not.
My thought -- If you can blow $60K on the car, just drop another $500 for the XM (for 5 years). That's only $8.33 per month -- way better than the $12.95 that they'll soon hike their rates to. So I'm good for 5 years.
And if you do the math, the $60 is NOT a good deal because they won't renew that rate next year.
Didn't want to get a "deal" now for only one year, then pay $12.95 / month forever after -- over 5 total years (with the first year being the "bargain" $60), that's a total of $681.60 -- actually not a good deal.
$5 years for $500 = $500 total
$60 bargain, then $12.95/mo after that = $681.60 total over 5 years.
Check their website http://www.xmradio.com -- if you can still lock in the $500 deal for 5 years, do it instead - it's a better deal.
