Hi everyone I'm new to the forum.
I' have been looking to buy me a nice little sports car. I am 22 drove a 99 DeVille lol for couple of years and some suzuki 750's in my lifetime.
After looking at my options I ended up with 2 choices.
Infiniti G35 vs the C6
I know these are somewhat different kind of sports cars but I'm not just looking into power but styling/ quality also?!
Now from my point of view the infiniti g35 is a very well designed pice of machinery. I almost gave up on Domestics due to the fact that my deville had plenty of electrical problems. Not to mention its "northstar 32valve V8 motor" thats supposed to be so godly took a SHlT on me at only 40k. Then came the suspencion problems and interior started to crack down! IT WAS ONLY A 99 w/ 60k on it ...and my P.O.S. 1982 mercedes turbo disel 300sd Was kept outside for years and has perfect leather no cracks rips and is driven daily 80 miles. ahh makes me mad to even think!!!!
Anyhow my point is ... How reliable is a 400 hp loaded beast really.
I only take out my car on weekends and I like flashy nice things. Both of these cars have great styling even though the G35 is more of a Luxury/sports coupe and the vette is more of a true sports, sports car.
Now my question is.. has anyone owned both and can someone tell me the difference as far as BANG for the BUCK. also QUALITY RELIABILITY VALUE. All that good stuff.. I am affraid to buy domestic cars cuz that damn deville. I understand those V6 300 hp motors have their first major service at 105k!!!!! They have good reliable reviews that ive heard of and I don't know much of the quality of the GM"s please some input.
I appologize for the long post and my grammer english is my 3rd and last language learned =) Damn europeans lol maybe i should stick to my bmw or mercedes heh
Yeah, I've driven both. C6 all the way if I had to choose, but that's just me, drive them both and see for yourself. I drive an 04 M3 right now and am getting the new zo6. I just don't see much of a comparo between G35 and C6. Maybe M3 and C6, even thought the C6 is faster, the M3 is a serious drivers car also. But the G35 even though it has about 300hp, it didn't feel like it to me when I drove it. Felt VERY underpowered compared to the M3, so just imaging how it will feel compared to the C6. C6 all the way. Besides, the G35 is such a wanna-be car.
I haven't owned a G35, but I just moved up from a 350Z and they share the same mechanicals. The VQ35 is a tough engine, but no way is first major service 105,000 miles. Mine had 287 hp (they bumped it to 300 this year). It actually has that much power, but you have to wind it tight to find it. It isn' at all like the torquey V8 in the Corvette.
Handling is good, brakes are good, but it eats front tires for lunch. Expect to replace your front tires in under 8,000 miles. The tires don't actually wear out, they just cup and feather so badly that the roar is intolerable. This is a chronic problem, going back to the 2003 model, and Nissan hasn't fixed it yet.
It is a good tight car, but so is the new C6 Corvette. You do get a back seat, of course, but at least for my butt, the driver seat isn't a good fit. I find the Corvette seats much better. Steering feel and response is superb on the 350Z, and the G35 too. I like it better than the C6, which is no slouch, but the C6 has a *much* larger steering wheel, and a much larger turning radius, which hold it back from being superb.
Overall, I'm much happier with my Corvette, but the 350Z/G35 is a good car. I had fun driving mine.
Infinity GTR is on the way with 450 hp,all wheel drive and monster meats under the flared fenders. It would probably compare favorably to the C6,but some guesses go as high as $75k when it arrives.Otherwise the quality is outstanding on the G35,but it tends to be somewhat of a non-enthusiast "chick car" to my observations(with all due respect to the many fine enthusiast C6 gals out there!).

non problem-- if we wanted to mod, our vette is capable of this and more
I own an 04 G35 and a C6. They are completely different cars with the Vette costing about 12k more. The G is auto and the C6 is 6 speed. I don't think of the G35 as being that fast but its still fun to drive. I love the thick comfortable seats, the nav is better than the C6 and easier to change radio stations, the sunroof is easier than stopping to take the glass top off on the Vette, and the Infiniti reliability is top notch. But the awesome power of the new c6's makes it the first choice out of my garage. This is my 6th Vette, had 3 c5's and believe me althought my new car doesn't have many miles, I can't believe how much better this one rides, handles and performs.

I agree as I have both. The G35 is more plush and comfortable yet is a solid cool car. Yes, the Vette will out run it and has more power but they are both good cars.

No need to apologize for grammar as you expressed the differences very well. The C6 is a loaded beast. The other is a G35.
I had an 04 G35 coupe. It was a very solid car, especially for the $36k i spent for it. It was fun to drive and sounded cool...but it was a wanna-be sports car. As far as the back seat...if anyone over 5'10" was in the front seats the rear seats were not usable anyway.
If my pockets would only allow a mid 30k purchase for a car i would buy a G35 again over anything 35-36K and under - including Mustangs and 350Z.
My C6 feels as polished as anything i've driven, but with much more power and style. The C6 is a sports car that gets respect for all it's virtues, while the G35 is more suited to the fast and furious set.
From: Austin, Texas Codes 660, 9448, and 295660 work in the C6 navigation unit. No DVD playback yet.
For the price, the G35 is hard, hard, hard to beat. I almost bought one. I may still buy one if finances improve.
But if you can make the jump to 55k, nothing really compares to the Corvette. Believe me, I looked. Hard. The M3 comes very close for the price, but is a totally different automobile with a different attitude about going fast and crusing down the road. Not bad, mind you, just different.
I test drove the G35 several times but bought the C6. The Infinity salesman called me & when I told him I bought the 05 Vette, he said
"that's my dream car, you made the right choice".
What's the priority? Performance or affordable luxury?
The G35 is nice (I've been shopping for one as a daily) but is certainly nowhere near the C6 in performance (all around performance not just HP). But, while the c6 is significantly improved over the C5, the G35 interior is still nicer, and more luxury focused.
Many track their G35s so that is still an option if you go this route.
Depending on the options you get, c6 consumables will likely be more expensive (larger tires etc.) but with the 6MT you get 19"s all around and those won't be cheap either...
I agree with the poster above, if you go the G35 coupe, the backseat is all but useless. For legroom but also headroom - the rear window slopes down pretty quick. Now, a < 6' person in front and a child in back may work, but don't expect to drive 3 friends to lunch.
A lot of ppl on the board love their C6 and rightfully so...
so you will mostly get a biased opinion. I am not a vette fan, but I am surely a C6 fan...and I also have a G35...In my opinion, overall the quality of the G35 is miles ahead of the C6, where as the C6 in performance is miles ahead of the G35...G35 has better handling/crisper steering(is what I have heard)
I have the sedan and I love the luxo-performance of this car so much that i was thinking of getting another 1 for my garage, a red, 6sp with nav and all that...then I would have bought some performance parts for it and some nice body kits to make it look more appealing than the C6...hp boost would be a lot but still it wouldnt really come close to the C6 in performance but defently beat/equal the M3 for may be 15k..I would have got the 04 in 35k and with 15, I would be pushing a lot of hp and with 0-60 in the higher 4s which is good enuf...with all that in the car, I would say I would be more than happy and have an overall better car than the C6, but if you really want to push the car around then C6 is the best you can get...if you dont like modding cars then C6 is great otherwise, if you enjoy pimping your car(and guys it doesnt look rice) then G35 is the way to go...I would have loved to be in the G35 coupe but decided not to have the same cars, so thats why I decided against, but I would have gone for the G in a heartbeat...
ps:- photos from some G35driver forum members, I would have modeled my car on the top one..
I Have Both, G35 Sedan And My C6...apples And Oranges...
But To Get Just Half The Service Given By Infiniti On My
$35000 G35 On My $55000 C6 Would Be Worth ?????
I traded a G35 Coupe for a C6. I had to think for maybe a nanosecond. As in no choice at all. The Coupe had a nice interior, but in no way was up to Lexus standards. It was fun to drive. In its price range it was a wonderful ride. As many have said it is just darn hard to stay out of the Vette. The whole feeling, the experience is much more visceral. And my Infiniti dealership was a nightmare, so no guarantees there.
