Default 2006 "transitional" model year?

I have seen the 2006 MY described as a transitional year in this forum.

So far the 2006 is slated to bring us:

1. Two new colors
2. Hidden XM antenna
3. New steering wheel design
4. New 6 speed automatic transmission
5. Paddle shifters
6. New auto tranny gear selector

If this is a transitional year, I can't wait to see what follows!

If you are alluding to big changes in '07, I would say no. These are likely just things they didn't get time to impliment on the '05. There will be small cahnges / additions every year. For '07, they'll probably be focussing on tweaks to the Z06.

Thanks. We hope the following models will have more basics such as:
1. Auto up windows
2. Nav with 6 cd player
3. Steering wheel with radio/nav controls

I was saying that the 2006 carries with it changes that elevate it above transitional year status.

That should never happen. How would you like to have your hand caught in an auto up window? Or, a child's head? That problem created a design change. Now you have to pull up on the switch to raise the windows in all cars, instead of pushing down. A child stuck his head out the window and rested his knee on the switch - it wasn't pretty.

I wouldn't call it "transitional." The next few years will be more a time of "refinement" of the C6.

Nah, its a nice feature, my wife has it on her BMW. They have a senser that stop it if it hits an obstruction. Also, children should never be left alone in a car and any adult that gets their head caught in a closing car window is helping to remove undesireable genes from the pool.

I totally agree. I've seen this feature in other cars, it should be a no brainer to include it with the auto-down feature.

MY '07 should see a decent HP bump in the Base model. If not, GM will be losing even more "enthusiasts" than they are losing now. Sure they will sell every C6 they make. But, they won't be making as many. Mark my words.

Every car that I've owned in the past 5 years with an Auto down has had an Auto up.

If your kids are strapped in their car seat where they're supposed to be, their heads won't be hanging out the window.

If they're too old for a car seat and they still get their head caught in the window, well, Darwin would have something to say about that.

Considering the LS2 is in the GTO and Cadillac, I would hope that GM would bump up the hp/torque thru some tweaking to set this engine apart from the others.

I don't think there will ever be auto up windows on any new car model. They are an extreme choking hazard for kids. Its already a problem on cars where you push the window button down to make the window go up. Now many models require a lifting up motion to raise the window. This prevents a child from accidentally standing on the button that makes the window go up and catching them at the throat and choking them.

I think items 4,5,and 6 are all one package. As for change I think there will be minor changes over the life of the C6. Just look at the changes implemented over the lifespan of the C5, I see the same pattern for the C6.

We just went through this didnt we? It is currently available on several brands although all these that I know of have the redesigned pull to close feature required in newer vehicles.

But what if they curl their toes, pull up, and close it on their head? Come on man, we need to protect the innocent! It shouldn't matter whether the child is properly restrained or supervised!

I have to agree with the others...it's either a good lesson or natural selection. You pick.

I hate to be so blunt, but you don't get out much, do you? I have owned four vehicles (all in the low $30K range) that have had this feature. Millions of cars have been sold in the U.S. with this feature. Have you read any hysteria surrounding this feature? Neither have I.
