Especially when other people can hear the noise from outside!

I've noticed the same problem as well lately..only 1300 miles and auto too...anyone else?
Yes.....it started just after my dealer fixed my crank pully bolt issue.
It feels like its rubbing somewhere near the steering column and I can feel a vibration through the steering wheel along with an iritating noise when turning th steering wheel..............
Seems like a rather rare problem, though dolphin has been squealing about it for a couple of months now. It’s a shame it hasn’t been reconciled. Here’s a couple related links:

Yes, I have that same noise coming from the front steering unit or area.
Also maybe like a rub on tire to fender?
Only when start up at a stand still.
Only for 2 seconds and its gone.
It does sound like a rumbling.

Reason: addition info
took my C6 to the local dealer yesterday for this problem. They couldnt make it happen there but they did find a bulletin. Here is what it reads:
"05 corvette low resonance vibration at idle when turning- kw left line pump right steering turn wheel #PIC3109 - (Aug 19, 2004)
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may state that there is a low resonance vibration feeling in the steering wheel when turning the wheels slightly in either the right ot left direction when in the stationary position at idle. The condition seems to apper on vehicles equipped with the 4L65E automatic transmission.
Recommendation/Instructions:
This is a normal characteristic of the vehicle and no repair attempts should be performed."
Document ID# 1546118
IMO this is totally unacceptable, looking for suggestions on what I should do next??
Sounds normal to me, but take it to a different dealer. It is a lot of work for the power steering pump to turn the mass when not moving. I think the large tires make it worse.
