Default Dead Battery Poll

If your battery died, what would you do?

I'm convinced that Delco turned out some bad batteries. ShopDog did an expose several mos ago that convinced me and others. I would not take a chance with a replacement Delco even if it were free.

JT, I thought I was home free with the replacement battery but here I am again after 6 trouble free months. I have an electronic expert that advised me against the gel based batteries like the Optima.

Me too. We've both had our cars since early Nov & no problems. I'm at 9,800. Left if for 11 days when I went to PR started right up upon return.

If mine failed I'd fork out the $100 or so and go Optima

I have not had a dead battery yet, but a week ago Friday after sitting for less than 48 hours it cranked slow like the battery was weak. Let it sit for three days DIC said 11.7 and it fired right up like normal. Something is definitely going on.

3 episodes of DBS since October. I brought it in once and nothing was found. Just recharge and everything is fine for a month or two. I can't believe that it's the battery, and I feel that there an intermittent circuit drain doing the dirty deed. New, better, or bigger batteries just have that much extra capacity to allow it to live through the drain, but still start the car.

Just visting from C5 sections but thought I'd pass on my experience. My Delco went dead on a Sat afternoon. When I called the dealer the Service Writer advised me they were closing but to go buy a battery and the General would reimburse me. All I had to do was take the Vette in with the battery installed and show them the receipt. 3 weeks later I got a check in the mail for the full price of my Optima. Moral of this story is make sure your battery goes bad on Sat or Sun when the service dept is closed.

Almost 3000 miles and 5 months and no problems with the battery. Mine hardly ever sits more than a day or two without being driven.
