check this thread:
My jacking post, with the whole write up also kept at http://c6.81x.com for safekeeping.

You CAN jack the C6 from the middle, with just one jack. The C6 weighs 3600 pounds (convertible), so a 2 ton jack to lift half of that is much more than adequate.

I did not have a special low profile jack. Just a standard jack that I bought at NAPA. I think it has a height of 5 inches or so. The key is to drive the front wheels up on wooden blocks first.

I used a 2X4 because that's all I had. But a 2X10 would be much better to give the wheels a wider platform to rest on while you slide the jack underneath.

jacking from the center works just fine.

here's the picture labelled:
the locations recommended in the owner's manual are off to the side. "B" shows the midpoint between those two locations, which is also fine. But I used a point about a foot in front of B.

and agree with above -- don't expect two jacks to hold the car. Definitely
  • chock the back wheels
  • use just one jack in the center
  • then, once up on the jack, put two jack stands under the car using your jacking pucks.

Just my own opinion. I know everybody develops his own way of doing this. Just don't get squished.

Too bad. Looks like a good jack.

Check to see when the "Craftsman Club" promo is running...if you sign up or are already a member you'll receive an additional discount. I bought the Sears 4000 pound $199.00 model for $149.00. It was marked down to $179.99 for the sale and they had a set $30.00 discount for the Craftsman Club promo, and honored both.

edit: This was 2 months ago but the Craftsman Club sale runs monthly.

I just left sears with the intention of getting one of the aluminum ones. CMB13, the jack combo you just bought is on sale for $26 bucks! This is not a low profile aluminum one. In fact, neither of the aluminum ones are on sale here in NC this weekend. $119 and $199 is how they are priced here. The guy showed me the paper for the 2 day sale. No biggie, they will go on sale. Also note that the smaller of the two jacks is not all aluminum. It is steel and aluminum. The bigger one is in fact all aluminum. Look at the description if you go check them out. Bigger one weighs like 42lbs, the little one weighs like 54lbs.

wow, thats alot of $$$ for a jack. If I'm gonna spend that kinda money for a floor jack, NAPA sells the best low profile jack on the market for that price. With its 2 3/4 min height, It will get under slammed cars with no problem. In fact, its probably overkill for the C6 because GM still cannot understand that they make these cars too high!!!! I can fit a small honda in the C6 wheel well space.

Anyway, the NAPA jack is also 32" long and the length of the 2 3/4 low profile is 14" long. I've yet to see a jack out there with these dimensions for a $199 price. Only problem with the NAPA jack is its very heavy.

For the C6 or even an unlowered C5, I'd get a harbor freight aluminum 3.5" low profile jack for like $129.

I've seen that mid rise lift. Those are amazing. I heard they are real heavy and tough to move though. How long have you had it? I know a guy who has a RED Norco and it extends to a 42" height. I know that BENDPAK makes them also

My 12 year old floor jack started to leak at the piston seal and naturally no one repairs and or sells repair kits for most of the "made in China" stuff so it was time to get a new one. I looked at Sears , Pep boys etc and finally bought the same jack from Tractor supply. $30 cheaper than Sears. I knew the "made in China" stuff had a short life cycle but two pumps and starting to leak so back it went. Paid the price and got a Norco 3 ton (need to lift my small tractor and pick-up also) The 3 ton capacity will also give extra protection when used with my "Kwik lift" ramps. Its retracted height is 3 3/4 inches and the extended lift height is 24 1/2 . Should be here this week. Nice thing is the lifetime warrenty and that there are service facilities in the US. Use report to follow

It may be pricey but I bought the very low profile jack from Gariot's garage. It has a fith wheel so you can easily move it around under the car with ease. Best jack I ever used. About 389.00 US dollars.

I'm not sure how you are jacking up both sides of the car at the same time??? You say that "no jack ever made can reach the lifting points..." Not even close to true. Many jacks do. And if they don't, drive up on 2x4's as Bugman shows.

The only safe way to jack up a Corvette is to use a good jack under the cross members (front or rear). I sometimes use stands as Bugman shows, but I usually put the stands under the cross member on either side of the jack.

I think Snap-On sells those. Somewhere around $3500 based on an old thread I remember seeing.

$1500-$1800 made by Bendpak or Norco. Google BENDPAK MIDRISE LIFTS or NORCO MIDRISE LIFTS

Well, that would be about par with Snap On being twice as much as the rest.
