Default Monterrey Red

I've been lurking for about a month, so this is hello to all! Hopefully this forum is going to help me survive the next several weeks while I wait for my order... God knows I'm driving my wife nuts, LOL.

I've got an MN6 1SA Z51 on order in silver , but the silver was my second choice. It's a very strong second, but still second.

First choice was Mag Red, which is obviously no longer available. I've heard here and elsewhere that the replacement color, Monterrey Red, is available now.

Does anyone know where I might get a color chip or otherwise be able to see the new color?

Eric

From what I have been hearing Monterrey Red will be very similar to the '03 Anniversary Red. IMHO, a very sharp color.

I know you did not ask, but here is my 2 cents worth. I have a silver C6, and also had 2 silver C5's. Great choice, easy to keep clean, but in retrospect i wished I had gotten the mag red/monterry red. The silver on my C6 just seems to be a bit "dull'. Can't explain it, because I think it is the same as my C5.
Monterry red on cashmere for me next time.

I'm with ya. When I ordered my C6, I went for LeMans Blue because I really like the way the color looks. After thinking it through for awhile, though, I realized that LMB is a "high-maintenance" color in that it will show dirt, dust, and (worst of all) every tiny spiderweb scratch. My last two cars were dark in color and I spent more time trying to keep them looking good than I did driving them.

I ended up switching my order to Machine Silver, not because I like the color better than LMB but because it will be much more forgiving and will look better more of the time. The LMB would have been smashing after a fresh wash / wax, but would have deteriorated pretty quickly shortly after. I don't expect that to be the case with MS. Not only that, but now that my brain has been "conditioned" to await MS, I'm finding that I actually like it a lot.

Just another 2 cents worth.

The first week they are building yellows is June 12-19th (I've got a VY on order with that TPW). Since the monterey red allocations came out a week later, I would assume the first week you'll see them at the factory is the week of June 20-27th.

The QuickSilver used in MY '01 and '02 is brighter, i.e., more metallic than the Machine Silver being used currently.

Rick, the chip in your post is labeled Magnetic Red. Is that correct, or is that chip really Monterrey Red.

Dwarga, same general question: several posts say they're not spraying Monterrey Red yet. Do you know different? Is that the Monterrey Red in the photo?

As to the general silver vs. other color comments: I agree all the way around. The silver is definitely sharp, and I'm sure I'll be very happy with it. It'll definitely be easier to keep clean, and that's a plus to me since this will be a daily driver. On the other hand, it's a Corvette for God's sake It just seems like I should at least entertain a "louder" color.

Move the slider bar (scroll right) to the right and you will see Monterrey Red next to the Mag Red sample.

And, if you get to Jalisco Blue, you've gone too far

Had 01 Quicksilver & traded it for a 05 Mag Red, God I miss the silver. Keeping Mag Red clean is like housework...never done. Red is beautiful but a job to keep clean.

Yes, the car in the pics on the transport is Monterey Red. I am very interested in the color. C6girl saw it in person and said it is more of "cranberry" red with no brown in it (I like both of those descriptions). Several people have said it falls between mag red and anniversary red...I like both of those colors.

Colors are a compromise like everything else .....to me, the darker colors have more "pop". But they are harder to maintian. Silver seems to look much better on the C6, than previous models. Something about the angular styling of the C6 that goes very well w/ silver......especially the verts

Rick, Ive seen you post those color chips before. Is there any way you can step back about 10 feet and re-take that pic? It's so close up (too much detail on the metallic particles) that it really is hard to get a feel for the color. If you can't then that's cool. I appreciate any pics I can put my eyes on.
