Right. Real sports cars don't have those "froo-froo" frills like bluetooth, DVD navigation, and radios.

If you are going to take it that far then I guess they dont make sports cars anymore. I didnt order mine with nav. And the radio argument is a silly one for reasons that dont even warrant naming.

And that means it should forego an invisible-to-the-naked-eye feature that is both a real convenience and a major safety enhancement? Please.

where does it stop then? There are so many gadgets with marginal benefits that could be added that do not add to performance. The more of those the less of a pure sports car it will ever be. And WTF does invisble to the naked eye have to do with it?

It means that you can't argue that the car's appearance is somehow compromised by the option. There is 100% upside and no downside, even to an appearance purist.

Now, what is your so-obvious-its-silly argument in favor of radios on a true sports car?

I'm not really sure what you point is. The car already has (std or optional): Power windows, locks, steering column, both seats, Bose Stereo, memory, Leather, HUD, Navigation, On-Star, XM radio, power top, keyless everything etc. At least Bluetooth makes sense as a safety and convenience item - especially on a car where hands free would come in really handy with a manual transmission.

bc a true sports car is about driving and enjoying. Nothing like driving down the open road with tunes ablaze. A sports car is not about turning the radio volume down with sterring wheel controls, looking at a nav screen figuring out where your meeting is while discussing it via bluetooth with your underpaid secretary, while your butt is being heated.

Im not saying it is a pure sports car anymore, but every thing that gets added like bluetooth takes it another step away.

Okay, I'll bite. How does bluetooth make it less of a sportcar? Is it going to effect it's speed or handling? Perhaps you'd like something in a Lotus Elise!

sports car=low weight, low frills. It's not that simply adding bluetooth makes it no longer a sports car, but it takes it further away from what a sports car was, and IMO should continue to be.

this is silly the weight a blue tooth enabled system would add is negligable. If you didn't want it you don't have to have a blue tooth phone. The corvette has not been a low weight low frills car for a long time. Although for me it is a toy weekend car for some it is their daily driver. This is a silly arguement because the car at this point does not have it. As I pointed out it can be added if you don't want it don't add it. I have to use the phone when I am in the car as I am a physician( as in hey an emergency I will be right there) Trying to dial the phone and shift is very difficult and has been pointed out is a safety issue.

thats why we call them 'options'. If you think your sportscar shouldn't have them, thats fine, but why penalize other people who might like a few more amenities. Bluetooth could actually be considered a safety device.

bottom line: some people think we shoudl have it. I don't. That's it. Giving reasons has proved fruitless bc nobody is going to change their mind.

It's still very much a sports car - Bluetooth is just technology - if you want to make sure and not use technology, then we shouldn't add air conditioners, airbags, stereos, or 400hp? Bluetooth would certainly make the car better in my mind.

brilliant comparison, except that none of those other technologies take away from the drivers ability to enjoy their drive.

GM probably won't offer Bluetooth as is does conflict with the OnStar calling plan, so we're probably stuck with only aftermarket solutions.

Thanks, you gave me a great idea.

I was a sportscar hater and unenthusiast inasmuch I went ahead and added bluetooth to my C6, especially b/c most often my cell phone calls are with my wife, and I find it safer and more accommodating to row through the gears while simply speaking toward the microphone. But, I now told my wife that I have negated the sportscar heritage of the Corvette and shamed my fellow enthusiasts, so the only thing that can save me is adding horsepower. She readily agreed, so it's time to start shopping for some ponies.
