Obviously there is no right or wrong answer to this question. Just our individual views on the matter. I don't disrespect your views, just sharing mine as well.
Shame on you GM for making a closed, integrated, unexpandable (yet otherwise well-designed) system and not providing for the two things that most consumers want to do with their cars these days- blue tooth phones, and iPod connectivity.
And shame on you for putting an Onstar system into my brand new $55K car that uses technology (analog) that I abandoned in 1997 and that you will abandon in 2008, then offer me to upgrade my system to digital for free only if I pre-pay for three years of onstar service. Are you taking lessons from Micro$oft?
Even linking a Verizon phone to the new digital system still means two phone numbers (on one convenient bill!) so if I forget to forward my calls to the car number when I get in (or worse, off when I get out), I'm screwed.
I love Onstar, but this is a side of GM I wish I didn't see.

P.S. I called a friend with my free minutes and he said the quality was horrible. Never heard that with my Sony Ericsson hands free kit in my C5.
