Car in for the "fix"...keeping my fingers crossed.
Well, I just left my car at my dealer to have the crank pulley bolt fix done. No trouble at all, but they offered to do it as a preventative measure and I said yes. While there, they're also replacing the radio, which had the intermittent muting problem. I asked the tech about the brake squeal and he thought greasing behind the pads might help. He says he used to do that on a lot of the Japanese cars that had brake squeal(?). If that doesn't help, they said they'd order the C5 ceramic pads for me.
I mentioned that I'd been told that the power steering cooler should be removed during the crank bolt job so the fins don't get bent. He said he would make sure nothing was damaged. The car will be re-aligned on their brand new Hunter alignment machine.
Hopefully, I'll have the car back sometime Friday. They said they want to have the car back to me for the weekend...very considerate.
I'll let the board know how this all turns out. In the meantime, I have a lovely Olds something to drive. It's white and has 110,000 miles on it. It also has the exact same front license plate bracket on it that came with my C6. Only difference is, theirs is on the car, mine is at home in a closet.
