Just Wanted To Ask And See How Many People Got The Extended Waranty On Their C6. Is It Worth It, And How Much Did You Pay For It. Please Let Me Know. Thanks.

I purchased one for my C5 on the last day of it's regular warranty. I did it because I saw that the car was going to give me some problems. It was a good investment as it turned out.

I suggest you wait until your warranty is close to being up. If it has exhibited nagging issues, by all means, get it. If it has been a solid car with few issues, it may be worth the gamble not to.

Price varies due to dealer mark up and also the length of time and miles and deductible you want. There are dealers on the forum that will give you a good price. Try Marvin.

Personally, I never buy extended warranties on anything, and on the whole this has saved me a lot of money over the years. I look at it like insurance. If you can't afford the cost of a big repair it may be worth it. Otherwise, it's a better deal for the issuing company than it is for you. I carry hazard insurance on my house, because I really can't afford to replace it if it burns down. On the other hand, I can afford to repair my car -- even if it is something pretty major -- so I don't "insure" that by purchasing an extended warranty.

Also, consider that the extended warranty covers the vehicle during the period when it is relatively unlikely to fail. Early on, various "infant mortality" issues show up (covered by basic warranty, of course). After these are ironed out, the odds of a major failure are pretty low until the car starts to wear out. This is usually after the extended warranty runs out.

If you are concerned about it, do as GaryTX suggests and wait until near the end of the base warranty. If the car is giving you problems, buy the extended warranty at that time.

Only one I've seen came in the mail - $1700 for 48 months. Since the factory warranty is for 36 months, they want $1700 for a one-year window. Pretty expensive in my book.
