As powerful and strong as she is the LS2 has an unbalanced sound (at least in mine). Does anyone else feel that the C6 should sound more evenly balanced? I don't really want a louded ehaust just a less lumpy - a little more F1. Anyone else feel the same?

Hmmm... I read all the comments... My baby sounds and feels very refined to me. When she's idling, when I wind her up, she sounds/feels VERY balanced. American V8? Yea, but to me, not like small blocks of the past, more like thoroughbred European cars of today....
What do you mean by unbalanced and lumpy. We may have a communication problem here. Lumpy typically means an uneven idle mostly associated with V8's that have an aggressive cam, or older carbutated models that need a carb adjustment.
The F1 sound you're looking for can only be had with smaller displacement engines, with 4 valves and a redline above 7000 rpm's. maybe you could expand a little on what you mean.
The feeling is not like a heavy cam - she feels like 2 cylinders are stronger than the rest of the 8. Perhaps mine is unusual... It is definately not a weak engine. It is just that there seems to be a surge in the 8 piston firing cycle. No one else feels this? I am a little sensitive to this kind of feeling since I have a long history of motorcyles.

Beat me to it. Even if the LS2 could rev to 10 grand it wouldn't sound remotely F1.

Modern V8 engines use a dual plane crank, which, while it balances the primary couple of the engine, introduces a secondary couple. That, combined with a firing order designed to simplify tuned induction and exhaust systems, gives the V8 a characteristic "lope". This may be what you're feeling.
Not very likely as most of the F1 sound I saw at Indy a few weeks ago was a lot of whining and moaning. Definitely European, and you can keep that. Forever.
I guess GM shouldn't ship them overseas on their side anymore...sure you can fit more of them in a container, but with this whole unbalanced engine thing, it hardly seems worth it.
On a tangential note, Nascar V8's (old school OHV) often run higher piston speeds than F1 high RPM engines with a very short stroke Also, HP/Ib-motor, its really hard to beat the LS series V8 which spells performance if not "refinement".

Thanks Shopdog,
