So ive been told that 500 miles is the break in period. But after 500, how often am i allowed to really push the vette? Should I be conservative? Does it hurt the vette?

You're allowed to push it three times a week. If you exceed that limit, the car will break.
Drive it like it's stolen. And enjoy. Really, take care of your Vette, but these cars are made for speed. Why buy a Vette if you never could go fast? You'll be surprised how fast you go without even pushing it.
Was told at the factory to break it in like I'll be driving it. While I avoided full throttle and high rpm acceleration, I wasn't afraid to get into it a bit. With 1200 miles on the clock now, I feel free to use it like it's intended to be used. One caveat - running up through the gears gets you north of 100mph real fast

Had it up to 145 yesterday. Holy Cow when the auto shifted to top gear at about 110, I think- was just watching the road, it felt like afterburners were lit. Scared the poop out of me.
The coupe didn't mind it one bit so I put her away wet.

About 110 is where mine shifts, too. Doesn't take long to hit 145 then, does it? Ain't it a blast? Man, I love this car.

I remember reading somewhere that the typical C5 Z06 had like 200-400 full on runs during its life. I don't know where that data came from, or if it's even true. Figure a 4 year old Z06, that's about 200 weeks old. I'm sure that we 'get on it' at least once or twice a week! So, maybe those numbers aren't so far off.
Anyway, the car is designed for full on blastoffs after it's broken in.(maybe even before it's broken in) The more you do, the faster your tire and gas money gets spent. And, sure you'll wear the car out sooner, but how long do you expect to keep the car?
