Is anyone willing to sell 2 of the z51 emblems that complete dreams made with the red and chrome. I would love to purchase these from someone please!!!!!!!
Of the examples I have seen this is the only one I would be interested in.
Billet, red script.
Yah, these are GREAT - I LIKE THESE. Although it would be nice to see a real application; not that you could buy them.
The issue I SEE with getting licensing on these is their similarity to the Z06 logo style. GM won't allow that because it is infringing on the other brand. You'd have to tool these yourself out of billet on a wire EDM machine and then have someone etch the color's. You'd be looking at a lot of cash if you didn't have the equipment.
and the 505HP version...

Reason: deleted 405hp version
I'll bet a trophy shop could make those up. Scan and cut. most of the newer ones are computer operated. Just like engraving plaques etc.
yup - I like this idea. If you have it custom'd - then it's not a GM or anything else issue. I'm sure the PTO would also stand by yourside consider Z51 is just an alpha/numeric. It reminds me if the Lexmark given the work I've done in the past...but the Lexmark isn't 400HP - ;-).
What happened with Complete Dreams is a travesty. You cannot trademark a number in this country. Ask Intel. Remember that Intel processors used to be 286, 386, 486? The Pentium was supposed to be the 586 but AMD started to infringe on this territory. Intel found out it couldn't trademark "586" so they had to come up with a name, Pentium.
Being this is an alphanumeric designation, I believe this also applies, but I could be wrong. What happens in these cases is big GM blows alot of hot air threatening Complete Dreams with all sorts of legal action. Being they are small, they can't afford the costs to defend themselves and GM knows this, so Complete Dreams ends up giving into GM's demands.
If there are any lawyers in the house that deal with trademark infringement, etc. please chime in as I would like to know for my own peace of mind whether GM has this right.
The tooling alone for these things could run into the thousands..
don't know what completedreams had to pay out..but..

It's even easier than that - GM just say's "well we realize you want licensing for that, but we won't do it. Why don't you stop making them, we are thinking your existing licensing should be pulled otherwise." CompleteDreams should setup an S-corp make it one of the partners of CompleteDreams, LLC and then have a young, one-legged, hispanic-african-native-american, one-eyed woman run it. That would make for an interesting legal case....
