Default Question on Paint

Can you wax a new vett when received or should you wait a couple of months to polish. Any informative information will be appriciated. Thanks in advance for the help.

I was told at the BG plant the car can be polished and waxed upon delivery and that no waiting time is required.

I was told that the paint needs to "cure" before the first coat of wax. The clearcoat is fine for a few months. About 2-3 months is the length I waited, and that seems to be fine. (That was as long as I could wait....you understand, I'm sure)
This was just advise I followed. I'm not sure if there are any great guidelines out there, just a few opinions. If you're like me, you'll be glad to finally have that first coat on soon.

There appears to be a discrepancy here.

I Zaino'd mine the day after taking delivery. There seems to be two sides to this issues but there are a large number of people who have waxed on delivery and no one has reported a problem.
Wax it and stand back and admire it!!

The reason you would wait after a repaint is that since the paint is not cured by baking the volatile solvents need to vent. If you wax they don't and the paint can pit. since a new car finish is baked on it obviates the need to wait.

We were told, when we took NCM delivery, that we could take her home and wax her immediately...

Paint baked on at the factory has already "out-gassed" and is ready for detailing by the time it arrives on your doorstep. The harder question is are you going to use a sealant or a wax ??

Wax --- Very Rich, Wetness Factor, Limited Durability
Sealant -- glossy, somewhat sterile looking, great durability

Hopefully you will pop by and check us out ... we carry several lines of each and visit the car care section on the forum for hints on keeping your new car "sparkling".
