Your right. The Forum should not be used to solicit illegal copies of anything.
One could argue that, as an owner of the nav hardware, one is already a legal owner (or licensee, if you prefer) of a copy of the map data that is supposed to accompany it. One is also legally entitled to make and use a backup copy of that map data disc. If you think about it, there is zero difference between making a backup copy of your own original disc and then losing the original disc and making a backup copy of someone else's copy of that identical disc. Either way, one ends up with a legal backup disc and no original.
IMHO, nothing illegal is being solicited here. But, of course, IANAL.
Just to update you cynical and skeptical forum readers!
I am the guy that sold Jeff his car. No, I did not sell the nav dvd on Ebay. I never used the nav - would not have bought it but I bought the car from stock and did not have a choice.
I never used the nav, never had a use for it. Never saw the manual or the dvd.
As Jeff stated, he is very happy with the car and there has not been any other problems with this cross country sale. I even had the oil changed the day before it was picked up as a favor.
