It will automatically turn your headlamps on when it thinks the outside light gets dark enough to require them, i.e. in long tunnels, etc.
It happens often enough for me to notice it. It's usually a particular street or two; based on elevation, angle and vehicle velocity.
I would say those who don't have it happen much are on fairly level streets - I also find it's usually the non-HID vehicles; trucks rate high on the list. They figure if it's bright I must have my brights on - I usually just pull back on the handle and let it ride till I get past them. If it's a long distance; I do extended pull's (1,2,3 - let off - 1,2,3). That's enough to make a new friend; one that follows you all the way home... ;-)
