Default LS2 outperforms LS6

I just saw this in the October Motor Trend, page 102 Cadillac CTS/CTS-v; Quote, "The high-performance CTS-v gets a new (LS2) V-8 engine that still produces 400 horsepower, but now propels the car to 60 mph even quicker."

It seems when everything else is equal the LS2 gets the job done better than the previous LS6.

It's a bigger motor with the same heads in the same car.

I just went to a pre-introduction showing of the CTSV, XLRV and the STSV at the GM Tech Center and they explained that the LS6 used in the 05 CTSV was a detuned version.

when GM says detuned with regards to ls1/ls6 the generally mean different exhaust manifolds.

MY "detuned" 2001 Z28 pumped out 318 Rear Wheel HP with a cold air lid and muffler and 301 HP completely stock, down to the paper filter. A Friends 2000 LS1 Vette stocK put out 292 HP on the same dyno, same day.

CTS-V's with LS6's routinely put down 315-325. I know I had a 2004 and now have a 2005. CAI, Headers, exhaust and reasonable tune and you're at an easy 385-400 rwhp. I know, I'm there.
