Look at it this way, anyone buying an 06 auto got an added bonus be it gimmicky as posted by some a4 owners and mn6 guys or very cool and effective as I experience daily. Also it will NOT hurt resale and put it in D if your not into shifting the paddles. Everyone that has seen me car and been a passenger loved it. Why all the cracks at the a6 its still a vette?

The A6 does have a lot of features that other GM tranny's don't. It doesn't use freewheeling clutches, it rev matches, it has user selected upshifts, it's smart enough not to upshift when you are slowing while going downhill or if you are diving into a turn, etc, it has two different modes of driving & it freewheels the torque converter clutch to allow for faster downshifts and improved fuel economy.

A proud lineage indeed. Powerglides are still the first choice of discerning drag and circle track racers. They're perfect for big engines in light cars. Strong, reliable, and light.

Now a heavy truck, or a car with a little engine, needs more gears, but you'd have to drive a diesel, or a car with a tiny gas engine, to really need more than 4.
