Look at it this way, anyone buying an 06 auto got an added bonus be it gimmicky as posted by some a4 owners and mn6 guys or very cool and effective as I experience daily. Also it will NOT hurt resale and put it in D if your not into shifting the paddles. Everyone that has seen me car and been a passenger loved it.

Now a heavy truck, or a car with a little engine, needs more gears, but you'd have to drive a diesel, or a car with a tiny gas engine, to really need more than 4.
