I am thinking about taking the level one training at Spring Mountain. I recently purchased a C6 in June and want to know what it is capable of. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. Their web sit says it is close to Vegas, I am also curios were other CF members stayed that did the course. Is $2400 reasonable for the course?
Do it! The level I is a great course and the track is about 50 miles west of Las Vegas. Make your deposit before the end of the year to lock in 2005 prices. Be sure to ask for and get the CorvetteForum discount.
There are other threads about the school, read them.
You will love it.
One other suggestion, read Speed Secrets by Ross Bentley.

Chad, The C6 is capable of much more than the ordinary driver is able to handle. The most valuable modification that you can make to your C6 is to modify the driver. The C6 is a fabulous car and can do wondrous things. It is up to the driver to NOT put the car in a dangerous situation. With a little training, you and your C6 can handle almost any situation. You are very wise to want to educate yourself about the C6 Corvette. Take the class and enjoy your Corvette even more.

Thanks for the advice, I want to take the class, but would like to do it when I know the weather will be good. I also want to find another friend to do the class with as well. One of my friends just did a class in AZ.
The course is well worth it. I've taken both levels and also Skip Barber and it is worth the money. There are a couple of decent hotels in the area (casino's) and it is close to LV. The weather is never a problem, they are in the desert, with the exception of heat in the late spring/summer. Occasional rain, but not very often. You'll be amazed at what the car will do. You can't possibly emulate this on the street period.
Take the class. You will have a great time and learn more in 3 days than you have in years of driving.
And don't worry about bringing a friend along. Everyone in my class was great, and half the fun of the class is making new friends there.

You will learn some things about driving at it's best but what I came away with is a real admiration for the car and the engineering that went in to it. I was also very glad to be driving their car, not mine.
Spring and fall are the best by far, in fact beautiful weather times. You drive with the air conditioning on as the vette shuts it off under full accelleration (more engineering) on but mid summer in Vegas is a killer. It also can get d*mn cold in the winter at times.
Don't stay in Vegas unless it is before or after the class. You are going to drive full out somewhere near 300 miles with 10 gut twisting turns to a lap. After 6 or 7 hours behind the wheel with the adrenaline flowing full blast, you will be ready for a beer and bed, not an hour and 1/4 highway drive. Ask when you make reservations where to stay. There are three motels in town and they all give a discount to Spring Mountain visitors ($50 bucks a night).
Is it worth $2400? It is an experience you will never forget and you just put $50 to $60K in the car in the first place? $2400 also doesn't include the Piloti drivng shoes, jacket, shirt or hat I bought either, but it was all worth it to me!
