How about "my nav disc doesn't work when using the roads to and from my dealer - seems that should be on there. I'm confused it's impairing my driving and takes a long time to get to where I'm going - maybe it's a warranty issue?"
I received an voice mail this morning with a part number and price for a possible map update.
Part number: 15779679
Price: $293.42
This was from a GM representative.
I have not been able to reach this person again to confirm. Nor, have I been able to confirm with a parts manager. It is not on the parts catalog online. This is not for the fix, but sounds like a map update...I am more interested in the fix first.....
Don't know what version, etc. Just a voice mail so far.
Let me know if anyone else can confirm this.
Thanks to the Corvette Forum for keeping everyone informed.
I have nav on my '06, but it says that it includes 2 free map upgrades. Was this not the case on '05? Also, I wonder if they send you the upgrades automatically, or do you have to ask for them?
i don't about anybody sending any upgrades to me(especially for free) but since an updated version is out before the Calander year for 2005 is not even over yet, you'd think GM would either send them to us or send us notice to go pick up the updates thru the local Chevy dealer parts dept.
Anyway, please count me in for a group purchase too-should this come about; otherwise purchasing from Fred Beans with their normal highly discounted purchasing plan works for me too.

If allows the nav 05 to play MP3 count me in also.
I didn't check the sticker on an actual 2006 for sale, but the "window stickers" that are posted on the gmbuypower website say that the navigation option comes with two free upgrades.
"AM/FM CD WITH DVD NAVIGATION,
INCLUDES TWO FREE MAP UPDATES
(REPLACES 6-DISC IN DASH CD
W/SINGLE DISC CD)
$ 1,600.00"

Out of curiosity, I called Chevy this morning to check on the free upgrades. They told me that this is correct and that periodically Chevy will send us post cards, when new upgrades are available. You can choose to take it when you get the card, or wait. If you wait, you can request your upgrade later and it remains in effect until you accept your 2 free softward upgrades. Hope this helps.
I contacted Parts Bob and he is willing to give forum members a great discount. Contact Bob and tell him you are a forum member and would like to order on a group discount the Nav Update DVD.

JK
.
I just "tried" that at a local dealership.
(In all reality my disc actually can't find the local race track - Laguna Seca!)
The service writer said two things-
1. I/they have to go through Customer Relations.
2. He also said that more then likely all they would do is replace it with the same version(1.0)
And then..I went into the showroom and looked in a new C6 vert and found the Nav disc etc. and the disc was ...v1.0\
..for what it's worth....
I would be willing to ante up $50.00 for a copy of the new "flash" dvd if it exists....
How old is this software, a club buddy just took delivery of his 06 and my house (new sub-division 3 years old) can't be found. My neighbor with a Lexus can find it.
Will someone run a test? I'll PM you with my address and see if it can locate me?

No. '05s with nav did not come with any free upgrades...
I am contacting GM about it. It probably won't accomplish anything, but at least they will know how I feel about having spent the kind of money on my car and then having to fork out another three bills for updates for the nav system.
I know I could have opted to not get the nav and gotten a Garmin, but I wanted a clean look and not all kinds of wires, etc hanging out/over the dash.
