Unbelievable!! DBS again. This is the second time and I need to vent before I push this POS over the cliff. It's a 2005 mn6 with 1700 miles. After the first time, the service manager, a nice guy, said it's probably a bad battery, put a new one in and I had no problem for 6 weeks. Today I went to go for a nice Sunday ride. Got in the car and heard an unusual extra beep. The power seat went forward normally. I pushed start button and got the "No Fob Detected" message. Then I got other messages and then nothing. The absolute worst thing, though, was that I just got home an hour earlier (driving my reliable BMW) from the Vette Fest in Chicago at McCormick Place. I spent about $300.00 on Vet t-shirts, a winter car cover etc. I absolutely put the car into reverse and locked the column. In Illinois, one needs to have 3 of the same type of issues before the lemon law can be invoked. I'm an attorney in Chicago and I'm ready to have Chevy pick this car up and give me my money back or a new 2006 now. I feel a little better now but the reliability of this car is zero in my book. Anybody hear if the DBS is an issue in the 2006 model?
So far I have not seen any post on 06 DBS. Sorry about yours. I sure hope GM get's their act together soon and releases a fix for this issue.
I brought this post to the top due to some new information on DBS. Dffej51 has posted in the tech section that he has been in contact with a Corvette engineer that is willing to work with us on this issue. I think this is a first and we need to respond. Check his post out and e-mail him with the requested information. This could be the break we have been looking for.
I've had the DBS twice this week. Yesterday I took the car out for a long ride and then 24 hours later "DBS". When I tested the battery it was down to 5v.
Checked everything, being a tech weenie, I very carefully checked Reverse, Brake on, not acc. on etc. etc.
Every time I turn the car off I make sure the red light on the start button comes on before I exit. Check Check and Check again.
Even stopped and talked to my dealer and service manager. Both of which are friends and very good at what they do. I even talked to their certified Corvette mechanic who is also a friend.
What I would recommend as that anyone who has this problem bring their car in for "testing". That way there will soon be a huge number of the same problems reported and maybe someone will take notice.
If GM had removed the reverse lockout on the 2006 they must know there is a problem.
Quote MARCB . "Today I went to go for a nice Sunday ride. Got in the car and heard an unusual extra beep. The power seat went forward normally. I pushed start button and got the "No Fob Detected" message. Then I got other messages and then nothing. "
This is similar to what happened to me.
IMPORTANT QUESTION ( I"M keeping a log of DBS things, and this might help out)
Went you got into your car Sunday HOW LONG WAS IT PARKED?
Also.
Did you notice if the red blinking light was working next to the radio when you got into the car? (Only applies if you do not have Nav)

Taking the car in preferably on a flat bed at GM'a expense is the only way to get there attention.
Everyone need's to contact Dffej51 with their Corvette information (VIN etc.) Read his post in the Tech section. He is in contact with a GM type that is interested in the DBS problem and willing to work with us.
Thats a great idea. They sure don't like to see those types of bills.
I agree. I called a flatbed at last DBS,could not use it as the operator and I agreeed that damage would occur. Service was good as the truck showed up in a hour. I live on the side of a hill overlooking a lake. We then jumped it and I took it to dealer. Of course they found nothing wrong after keeping it 5 days. Dealer tried so that is not a complaint about dealer. (GM still had to pay for the cost of sending out the truck) Knowing what I know now, I realize if DBS is to occur it will happen in 2-3 days.
Thanks for the posts, guys. Today the car is being flat bedded (second time) to the dealer. After the first instance, they put in a new battery and life was good for 6 weeks. Then yesterday DBS again. Yes, the red security light was on when I entered the car. The seat automatically moved forward when I pushed button 1 to move it to my pre-positioned location. When I pushed the green start button (enought power to light that up) it was silent. Then the "no fob" indicator, then the "check engine indicator", then the dashboard lights rapidly flashed on and off, the the power seat tried to move forward as the dash lights flashed but didn't have enough power to complete its travel forward. With no power I had to use the manuel release to get out. By the way the windows wouldn't index up. I was actually on the way to take one of my boys to hockey priactice so he could show off my Vette to his firends. That went down the toilet.I had driven the car two days earlier and several days before that I put on two hours of highway driving. I average driving it every two to three days. It's a pain to flat bed it because it's so dead that it won't take a jump and with my garage layout I have to push the car back, the turn the wheel (once the column lock can be disengaged) and push it forward so that the flat bed can pick it up. I'm not 18 years old anymore and this is not fun. I'm trying to be specific so that we can piece together any trends. My service manager, again a nice guy, said that this time no automatic new battery and that they'll do a complete elec system check. He was also unaware of any unusual incidence of DBS. I called another dealer and spoke to their Vet certified mechanic and he also said that he had not heard of any DBS situations. He told me that mechanics have a number to call Chevy for their tech department to presumably discuss unusual situations. I hope that this qualifies. I'll keep you posted.
Classic example why I waited a year and a half to buy a C6. not saying second model year cars don't experience problems, but at least they seem to have fixed DBS in the '06. And you can bet the resale market will continue to penalize '05's for all the problems, weather actual or preceived, that they suffer from. Hope you get yours figured out.

Thanks for the info. Very close to what happened to my car
Chevy knows about this, they just do not want to admit it. (MONEY YOU KNOW) My car has been to the shop twice about this! I have talked to engineers from Detriot. I have also talked to Dave Hill, Will Cooksie and a couple of other BG engineers at Carlisle this year about it. Dave and Will ,I talked with at public functions, many people heard our discussions. Basically all I could get out of them was, and I think this is the key to DBS. NO shift to reverse and no colum lock for 06 model Vette They also said this could not be done on 05 models That fix is what we need. If it means taking out the colum lock SO BE IT A4s do not have them.
One of the other DBS victims asked about pulling the column lock fuse, owner's manual pg 5-89. Has anyone tried that? What happens when the fuse is pulled, are other features disabled?
I have an 05 Z51 MN6 with Nav. My battery died 5 times in a matter of a few months. I read on this forum that removing relay #46 would solve the problem. I removed the relay, and my dealer replaced my battery after cycling so many times. It has been 4 months now, and no DBS. If you go in the fuse box and see a relay in #46, pull it. It doesn't hurt to try as it is for the headlight washers. I really beileve this is the problem.
